A Creative SisStar Hello Sis, We've had such a great response on our first feature for the month of January, we decided to add another feature on a very creative and humble SisStar. Sheeba Chastang is the creative designer and owner of Urban Vibe Chic, which was started back in 2007. I was looking for a fellow yarn and needle diva to connect with and was introduced to Sheeba a couple of years ago. Sheeba and I share a love for the art of crochet and a love for seeing unity with other women. The first time I spoke to Sheeba she greeted me as “SiS” and I have adored her ever since. Now let’s get to know Sheeba Chastang and Urban Vibe Chic. Sheeba, You are amazing, fabulous, and creative…down right stylish!!! Thank you so much for your willingness to be the feature SisStar on Sisters in Style Blog. Xoxoxoxoxox, SiS Where you can find Urban Vibe Chic... **Disclaimer** Please disregard the Superwoman comment and insert Wonder Woman...LOL XOXOXOXOX, SiS A true SisStar Hello SiS, We are honored to have Shannon Scott be our feature SisStar for the month of January. Shannon Scott is an amazing mom, loving wife, fabulous sister, dynamic auntie, genuine friend, model, hair stylist, makeup artist and hardworking business woman. Shannon has also been instrumental in helping Vanessa and I understand the true meaning of “I am not my hair”. She came into our lives about 4 years ago as our loctician (hairstylist who specializes in loc hair care) and has inspired us to be better friends, sisters, mothers and women. Now let’s get to know Shannon SiS: Who is Shannon Scott in five words? Shannon Scott: Shannon Scott is Vibrant, Fun, Encouraging, and Driven Libra. SiS: How long have you been a hair therapist/stylist and what does that mean to you? Shannon Scott: I have been a "Hairapist" for 13 years. The significance of a hair salon for me, is that it is a place where Black Folks from all walks of life enter. As a hair stylist; I am in a position to be the listening ear, the motivator, and trendsetter for those I encounter. SiS: How long have you been on your loc journey? Shannon Scott: I have been growing my Locs for 13 years. SiS: What is the misconception about loc’d hair you would like people to know? Shannon Scott: First, it is almost a daily conversation I have to have with people who say…"I love your dreads", or "I want to dread my hair! I have to ask them, if you love it then why would you hate them? There is nothing "dreadful" about my hair. Words have power and meaning and because dread derives from the word dreadful, I refuse to claim that for myself. SiS: What inspires you? Shannon Scott: What inspires me is seeing young ladies redefining what beauty is for them. Breaking this standard of beauty in America and daring to step out of the box is amazing!! SiS: What do you do to relax? Shannon Scott: Relax.....what's that?? Oh yeah, when I sleep lol!! SiS: Who would be your ideal celebrity to style and why? Shannon Scott: If I could style any celebrity it would be Lauryn Hill. She is such an incredible talent. I would probably just sit at her feet and soak up as much wisdom as I could. SiS: What is stylish to you? Shannon Scott: Stylish is putting unique pieces together to create an individual look, I love standing out. SiS: Name one thing you can’t live without and why? Shannon Scott: I can't live without my organizer, it's becoming old school to actually write down appointments and phone numbers but I'm staying true! SiS: What is the best advice you could give to another SiS wanting to pursue her passion? Shannon Scott: You owe it to yourself to pursue your passion, and purpose. If you’re a circle, you cannot fit in a square world dare to stand out and take a risk.

To be honest I'm a little SCARED. Vanessa is pumped and ready to go. I, on the other hand, want to indulge at the Cheesecake Factory one good time. However, I'm determined to stay focus on the goal at hand, which is to bring my "sexy back". :-) If you are ready to bring your "sexy back" come join us in the challenge. We will start this Friday, January 10. Post pics or video of your progress. We will give a FABULOUS prize to the SiS with the best results. Disclaimer: Vanessa and I are not fitness trainer or in the medical field. Workout wisely and be realistic with your goal. Incorporate healthy eating, healthy thinking, and be committed. Only then will you see results. xoxoxoxoxox, SiS Well the rumors have been confirmed! SNL is adding a new cast member to the show. Sasheer Zamata, a New York native, will make her SNL debut on January 18, 2014. SNL was challenged to look at its lack of female diversity after the departure of Maya Rudolf in 2007. Sasheer will add a new and stylish look to the art of comedy. Congratulation Sasheer! Another Sister in Style xoxoxoxoxoxox, SiS cafeastrology.com has a fabulous section on fashion for the 12 signs and I just have to share. If you are a Capricorn and this describes your style let me know. Capricorn and Fashion Status and image are important to a Capricorn, and you will rarely find the goat with a messy coat. Her outfits are sharp and individual, much like herself, and usually comprise business suits and pointed heels when at work. Off duty, her style is relaxed but never overly casual. A Capricorn woman is not a label diva, preferring practical clothes over ridiculous straight-off-the-catwalk concoctions. Accessories and expensive jewelry are a Capricorn's favorite splurges. |
